Derek is committed to conserving energy which in return, saves his family money! We are recently married and in the process of saving money so we can have a family in the future. Derek has gone through our entire house and changed our light bulbs to ENERGY STAR CFLs. We just bought a new energy efficient dehumidifier for down the basement. What we would love to do, but can’t afford at the moment, is start changing some of our appliances around the house because they are old and not energy efficient. Derek an ENERGY STAR, he’s committed to saving energy, the environment and my financial sanity!
Q: What is the smartest energy decision you have made? The smartest energy decision that we made was starting to make some updates to ENERGY STAR for some of our appliances and electronics. We have started to see a difference in our energy bills because of this change.
Q: How has this decision affected your lifestyle and your wallet for the better? It has definitely helped us keep more money in our pocket which in turn helps us to save for future energy-efficient upgrades in our home.
Q: Are you surprised at the big changes that came from making a small change? Yes, pleasantly surprised.
Q: What led you to make the decision in the first place? My wife’s parents are very conscious about using energy-efficient appliances in their home and have talked to us about the changes they have made.
Q: How have you shared your experience with others? We have not shared our experience yet but plan to in the future.
